I had Steve Tudor replace my old flat felt roof with a new rubber roof, and replaced kitchen worktops and sink. He claimed to have done numerous roof replacements with rubber roofing, and had done many kitchen worktops. The roof was fitted appallingly, took two weeks when it was supposed to take two days, and needed completely replacing. I pointed out the mistakes, he either refused to fix them or lied about the work carried out, only admitting the truth when I provided photographic evidence. He hadn't replaced the rotten soffits, as agreed, he just put new timber over the old. The rubber was not placed under the abutting roof tiles, he lapped it over the top of the tiles and, as the roofers who replaced it said, siliconed everything to death. He started messing around with the neighbours guttering without telling anyone, causing a leak on their side, which he did fix after loosing my temper with him, as he was trying to blame whoever installed the gutters originally. The kitchen worktops have not been fitted properly, and are already starting to fail after 6 months. He left me with a sink that was not plumbed in properly, failed to get a plumber in to fit it properly so did it himself. None of the edge strips are fitted correctly, half have peeled off and I have refitted them myself to a better standard. I did get a full refund on the roof, as the first line of the invoice from the roofers was to 'remove failed rubber roof', so he could not dispute it, although I had to threaten small claims court to get this. As for the kitchen, I received a refund of £750, half of what I asked for. I had to employ a separate plumber to fix the sink, and will need to get new worktops again within a year. He tends to blame his incredibly poor workmanship on previous faultless work, blames his or his families health issues on being late/delays. Avoid at all costs

Text messages, calls, emails, contacted citizens advice who reported him to trading standards, took the threat of small claims court to get a full refund for the roof and partial refund for the kitchen.
Resolved as far as they can be, I accepted the refund offer for the kitchen as there is no guarantee he would have paid going through small claims court
